MY MATERNAL  LINEAGE BEGAN  ABOUT 150,000  YEARS AGO.
My maternal ancestors left Africa and moved north through western and Central Asia. They then turned west and crossed the grasslands of southern Russia into Europe. There, they eventually drove the Neanderthals to extinction, though they did interbreed with them. Living a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, my early ancestors set the stage for later European history. MY PATERNAL LINEAGE BEGAN AT LEAST 180,000 YEARS AGO.
My paternal ancestors took part in the out-of-Africa migrations. They belonged to groups that moved across West and South Asia and settled in what is now southern China. From there, my cousins in latter migrations moved back through Siberia into northern Scandinavia, following herds of reindeer into their new homeland. My paternal branch is N-L551
